2017 in Review

2017 in Review Lauren Rose Style Blog // Winter Fashion Snow Scotland OOTD Boohoo Pink Fur Coat
On the first blog post I shared in 2017, I wrote 'I am sure I am not the only one who is thinking, thank god 2016 is over'. One year on, I definitely don't feel the same about 2017. 2017 has been a great year for me. A year that I am ending feeling truly happy and content in myself and my life. I had a lot of hard personal things that happened in 2016 that I luckily left behind and I had a fresh start this year, a new job, a new flat, I officially moved in with my boyfriend of 4 years and I have even made some new friends. So many amazing memories have been made in 2017 and it will be a year I will always remember.

One of my goals for 2017 was to focus on myself, the things that make me happy, to worry less and live life to the full. It is so lovely to look back on this year and know I have done exactly that. I am not the same person I was last year. I am so much more happy, less stressed and feel way more settled than I have felt in years.

On the blog side, 2017 has been the year where I have feel like I have found my little place on the internet. I am much more confident when posting and have definitely improved my photography and I am really happy with it all. At the start of the year, I changed my blog name to Lauren Rose Style and refocused my blog to purely focus on fashion and personal style content. This has allowed me to focus on what I love most and make my blog predominantly about fashion, as after all that is what I am most passionate about. I am so glad I made this change and really stuck with it. I have probably posted less on my blog over the past year, but when I have posted they are post's I am really happy with and proud of. Quality over quantity has definitely been this year's moto!

Another goal I had for 2017 was to create a gym routine and stick to it, as well as trying to take up running. If you had told me a year ago that I actually would take up running, I don't think I would have believed you. However, after my friend Erica and I spontaneously decided to sign up to run a 10k in November, I really had no choice but to take up running to build up my stamina so I could actually complete the run. In just 6 weeks, I managed to train and complete my first 10k in 1 hour and 6 minutes and what is even crazier is that I actually enjoyed it. It may not be a marathon, but it is definitely a start. I am hoping to do some more 10k's in 2018 and then maybe I can try to do a half marathon, we shall see.

I couldn't finish this post without talking about my outfit. I am utterly obsessed with this gorgeous faux fur coat from Boohoo. I can't even explain to you how soft and cosy it is, totally in love - definitely my current favourite coat. Also how cute is this jumper, which is actually now in the sale for just £13 - such an amazing deal.

As you can see from these photo's, we have had quite a bit of snow in Scotland over the past few days which of course made for the ideal photo opportunity. Although, standing out in the snow has probably not helped my cold that currently have - oops!

Have you had a good 2017? I would love to know what goals you have achieved this year!

A Christmas Make-up Look With Bobbi Brown

A Christmas Make-up Look With Bobbi Brown // Beauty Post // Lauren Rose Style
A Christmas Make-up Look With Bobbi Brown // Beauty Post // Lauren Rose Style
Last weekend I woke up to the door bell ringing and the post man delivering a beautiful little christmas package from Bobbi Brown, which I was absolutely thrilled to receive. I attended a Bobbi Brown masterclass back in October and they kindly gave me away a ever so generous bag of goodies and I have been totally hooked on the brand ever since. I am obsessed with their gorgeous eye shadow's, I love the foundation stick and the mascara has quickly become my new favourite mascara.

I wanted to use some of the lovely products I received in last weekend's gift box to create the perfect festive make-up look, that I will be wearing on Christmas day and throughout the festive period.

For my base, I will be using the Bobbi Brown Instant Full Coverage Concealer with the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick. This is a great foundation stick, and perfect size to pop in your handbag to top up any patches throughout the day. For the eyes I will be using this beautiful copper shimmer Luxe eyeshadow in Heat Ray, with their long-wear liquid liner in Golden Bronze Sparkle. Because if you can't cover your eye's in glitter at Christmas when can you? Then finishing off the eye look with the Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara, which I am obsessed with at the moment.

Now the showstopper of this look is of course this beautiful Luxe Lipstick in Red Velvet to create the ultimate red statement lip. This vibrant shade is absolutely gorgeous and it has the most lovely formulation, keeping your lips super moisturised whilst wearing it. I cannot wait to get this lipstick on tomorrow - eeek!

Have you tried anything from Bobbi Brown? I would love to know what your favourite product is?

I wanted to just end this post by wishing you all a Merry Christmas. I hope you all have a wonderful day, eating all the amazing food and spending quality time with all your friends and family!

The Monochrome Edit

LAUREN ROSE STYLE - STREET STYLE LONDON - MONOCHROME CHECK JACKET - FASHION BLOGGER
As much as I try to incorporate colour into my wardrobe, I always favour a monochrome look. Monochrome pieces allow you to create an effortless wardrobe, where by you can easily mix and match and experiment more with texture, pattern and materials rather than colour. The beauty of monochrome clothing is that they can essentially make up the staple's in your wardrobe that will easily transition through all seasons.

This gorgeous checked jacket from Shein (shop here) ticks all the boxes for me. I actually can't even count how many compliments I have had on this jacket. It is just such a great piece. I love the shape, the drape collar, the print and it is actually extremely soft making it so cosy, as well as looking extremely chic. I think this jacket is such an amazing piece and the perfect statement piece for this monochrome look and a new firm favourite in my wardrobe.

My textured fluffy grey jumper is a firm staple of mine at the moment, especially now the weather is so cold in London and I am wearing some basic Molly jeans from River Island. I pulled this outfit together with my favourite accessories, some pointed boots from Forever 21 and my Topshop monochrome bag which I am so obsessed with.

I wore this outfit out for a day at the V&A with my lovely friend Anishka ~ who also has an amazing blog, check it out here! They were hosting lots of fashion career talks and it was so interesting to hear talks from so many like-minded people, who are all so passionate about their career's working in fashion. I have been working in fashion for 2 years now and I absolutely love it. Although it can be a hard industry to work in, as it is extremely busy and super fast paced, listing to other people journeys in the industry make's you even more motivated than you already are to continue to build your own career and keep working as hard as you can to get where you want to be.

What do you think of this outfit? I would love to know if your a monochrome lover like me?

Stargazer

December has finally arrived which means the festive season is about to go full speed ahead, with Christmas parties galore, lots of Christmas shopping to do, all the mulled wine and don't forget the boxes of quality streets that are going to be demolished. It is the most wonderful time of the year indeed. All the Christmas excitement has got me thinking about what I am going to wear over the festive period. Of course some velvet and glittery numbers will be worn but this star print dress is definitely going to be a staple this season for me. It is the perfect dress for the festive season and a strong contender to be my Christmas Day outfit.
I am just obsessed with everything about this dress. It is a gorgeous silk material, which makes it feel so luxe and the quality is truly amazing. I love the Star-print and the gorgeous ruffle detail, as well as how it cinches me in at the waist and looks ever so flattering. I like that I can dress it up in some heels for an evening look, or dress it down in some boots and a beret for a chic day look. I have had oh so many compliments when I have worn this dress already, it is a definite statement piece. The timeless style means that it is one that I can bring out year after year.
I teamed this incredible dress with my favourite pointed boots from Forever 21, which I sadly can't find online to link - I got them from the Oxford Street Store a few weeks ago for just £30. Then I wore my staple monochrome Topshop bag that you have probably seen in my last outfit post. I still haven't put it down since I got it and you can shop it here if you wish.
Dress: Monsoon (Shop here) // Boots: Forever 21 // Bag: Topshop (Shop here) // Red Beret: Accesorize (Shop here)

I am also wearing my little red beret from Accessorize, which I think pulls the whole look together. I also can't believe I have waited this long to become a beret fan. If anyone needs an idea on what to get me for Christmas, I now need one in every colour pleeease - haha. You can shop this festive red one here.

I hope this post got you excited about festive dressing! I can't wait to keep wearing this dress over the season and find some more gems that will appear on my blog over the next month too. I have a very OTT sequin number that I plan to wear to my work Christmas party, so I will hopefully get some snaps wearing that to share.

What are you most excited about wearing this festive season? I would love to know what you think of this dress?!

Until next time, Lauren Rose xx
