FIVE HAPPY THINGS

FIVE HAPPY THINGS / LAUREN ROSE STYLE BLOGGER LONDON / LIFESTYLE POST
I've been stuck in a bit of a creative rut recently, hence the lack of blog posts and instagram photo's. I have been generally struggling for inspiration and feel like I have nothing to post about. I hope I am not the only one that has ever felt like this?! Life has sort of taken over a bit and I think my brain feels just too darn busy to come up with new blog post idea's and content.

Instead, I thought I would write up a different post from me today, so no fashion post here but instead I am going to share five things that are making me happy right now..

1. HOLIDAY ~ In just over a month I am off to Italy for a week with my boyfriend and I could not be more excited about it. I really feel like I am in need of a holiday, some time away to really relax. We are staying in Sorrento so we are also planning to do a little bit of exploring, with a day trip here and there to Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius, Positano and maybe even a boat trip to Capri. I am sure lots of pizza, pasta, ice-cream and wine will be consumed and hopefully I will return with a bangin' tan as currently I am as white as a ghost.

2. MOVING ~ In a couple of week's I will be moving flats for the third time since moving to London and I am extremely excited for the change. I will be leaving my current flatmate's behing and I am really sad that I won't be living with my best friend anymore, but I will be moving into a new flat with my boyfriend. I'm going to be starting to clear out and pack up my flat this weekend in preparation which also excites the organisational person within me and excited to have a new space to make our own.

3. LONDON ~ I wanted to include London in this list because I have been feeling really settled and happy here recently. Living in London away from my family and best friends in Scotland has always been hard, but since my boyfriend moved down a couple of months ago, I feel so much more content living here.

4. FAMILY ~ Last weekend I went to my cousin's baby shower back in Scotland and it was the nicest day. My cousin lives in Abu Dhabi so I hadn't seen her since she has been pregnant so it was so amazing to see her with her bump. We played fun baby shower games, literally showered her in gifts, ate cake and just had the loveliest day. Even though I live at the other side of the country, coming home for family event's as often as I can get up is so important to me and I came back to London feeling oh so happy.

5. FRIENDS ~ Last night I had a dinner and wine night with my favourite girls and I made a chicken pie for the first time ever. I used a Body Coach recipe, so it was slightly on the healthier side but it tasted amazing. V proud of myself. Chilled Friday nights spent chatting, eating and drinking with friends are the best.

I hope you enjoyed a little bit of a different post from me today, I would love to know what is making you happy right now?!

The Rose Dress

Lauren Rose Style // Floral Primark Dress & Bohemia Design Circle Basket Bag // Summer Street Style London Blogger
When I found this rose printed dress in Primark, I knew it had to be mine. My name is Lauren Rose after all and roses actually happen to be my favourite flowers. So it was a very fitting find indeed.

COLUMBIA ROAD FLOWER MARKET FLOWERS LONDON - LAUREN ROSE STYLE

Dress: Primark // Bag: Bohemia Design // Trainers: Nike

I took these outfit photo's a couple of weeks ago whilst on a Sunday trip to Columbia Flower Market, my favourite way to spend a Sunday in London. I picked myself up a Peace Lily, which I have managed to actually keep alive and healthy thus far.

This was the perfect casual dress for a sunny day out in London. When I first bought this dress, I was apprehensive about wearing it for the first time, as I wasn't used to wearing a midi style dress. However this dress has officially converted me. I love it so much. It is fast becoming my most worn summer dress. The weather in London has been extremely warm and humid recently, so I have been reaching for this dress constantly. I have been wearing it with my classic white trainers from Nike, keeping the overall style of the outfit really casual.

I also can't share these photo's without talking about this dreamy basket bag from Bohemia Design. I am in love. It is the perfect bag for summer and surprisingly manages to fit a lot of stuff in it. Although I will admit that actually the only downfall of a basket bag is that it does tend to scratch your leg when you walk... All in the name of fashion right? I have done a full blog post on my basket bag collection and sharing lots of other amazing basket bags available to shop now ~ here ~ if you fancy a read.

WRAP IT UP

The Zara Wrap Top / Lauren Rose Style Blog Fashion London // Street Style OOTD
Oh the famous wrap top from Zara that has found it's way into every girls wardrobe recently. I just had to get my hands on one and try it out for myself. I have to say, they are not as easy to tie as you would think, I have definitely had to try multiple times, every time I have worn it. Other than my inability to tie a bow on a top, this top ticks all the boxes for me. It has stripes, it is comfy and the most important fact, that it is the most flattering crop top I have ever worn. Can you tell I am a lil bit in love with it?

It is the perfect smart-casual top and the versatility factor allows me to wear it to work, as well as on an evening out with friends. I have paired it with my favourite Mom jeans from Topshop (shop here), some nude mules from H&M (similar here) and some sassy earrings from H&M, as well as my go-to black bag from M&S (shop here)

The Basket Bag Trend

Basket Bag Trend / Lauren Rose Style / Blogger London ft. Bohemia Design & Primark
The basket bag trend is one I have happily jumped on board with. I am not sure where the popularity has came from, maybe the heightened interest in all things Morrocan, but style bloggers everywhere aren't seen for long without a basket firmly in there hand at the moment.

I have acquired two thus far, this beauty above is from Primark that was only £7, and this basket bag of my dreams below from Bohemia Design, who have so many amazing styles on offer.

Reworking Your Wardrobe For Summer ~ The White Lace Dress

I have been struggling recently with my wardrobe. I am sure most of us girls have encountered this first world problem, where we seem to have an entire wardrobe full of clothes, but somehow we still feel as though we have nothing.. and I mean nothing to wear.
I am unsure why this happens to the best of us. It would be interesting to know if there is actually some sort of logic behind it. Who knows! But today I am here to give you some inspiration to find ways to reinvent your wardrobe without having to go out and drain your bank account in Zara, something that I have definitely been guilty of as of recent times.
First things first, we need to go through our wardrobes, pull everything out and try it all on. It's important to also clear out anything that doesn't fit or you haven't actually worn in the past 3 years. Then you can see what you have left to work with. Also, anything you are going to get rid of, make some extra cash (to buy new clothes) and sell them on ebay or Depop. I am a bit of an ebay addict and I am always listing things I don't wear anymore, that way I can justify buying something new. If you would like a whole post on this, do let me know as I would be happy to share all my tips and tricks.
Now get all those nice summery pieces out that have been hidden in your wardrobe for the past year and have some fun styling them in a different way. Style them differently by trying different outfits on. This is how I tend to plan outfit's. An outfit can look great in your head, but in actual fact when you put it all on and look in the mirror, sometimes you can look ridiculous. For me, simplicity in summer outfit's is key. It can be so easy to go OTT with all the colours and prints, I think it's best to stick to one theme, if you have a printed colourful dress, make sure everything else you wear with it doesn't include prints and pair it with some simple accessories and white trainers.
The first thing I was drawn to again this year in my wardrobe was this white lace dress. I got this last summer and wore it to Wimbledon with some snakeskin boots and a bomber jacket. This time around I wanted to team it with some blue denim as I think white lace and denim is the ultimate summer combo. I actually love this denim jacket so so much. The prettiness of the frills and lace detail add some dimension to the look and I wanted to break this up with some biker boots to give more of an edgier look. I then added a leopard print bag, making the perfect little statement accessory.

Everything in this look I had in my wardrobe already, sometimes you just have to look properly to find those hidden gems in your wardrobe that I am sure we all have. I think this outfit will become a firm favourite of mine this summer, with this dress seeing me through these scorching hot days in London we are having at the moment, it is currently 32 degree's today. So. Hot.

I hope this has inspired you to try find some pieces from last summer in your wardrobe that you can actually wear again this year, styling them differently to create a whole new look. Have fun with it and don't be afraid to experiment with your style!

Until next time, Lauren Rose x

How To Style A Trench Coat

How To Style The Trench Coat With Jack Wills / Lauren Rose Style / Fashion Blogger London
I shared a post recently about how the Trench Coat has made a bit of a comeback. This classic and timeless piece is a true representation of the iconic British style. Today I wanted to talk a little bit more about the history of the Trench Coat and share with you the different ways you can style it.

In the 1850's both Burberry and Aquascutum claim to have invented the trench coat. The trench coat was actually originally worn during World War 1 by officers in the trenches to prevent mud getting onto their uniform's. Flash forward 150 year's, and this piece now has major fashion credential. This was of course helped by style icons throughout the decades wearing this style. During the 60's Jacqueline Kennedy and Brigitte Bardot wore this style, and it was seen on Audrey Hepburn in the film Breakfast at Tiffany's. In more recent years, style muse and global model Kate Moss has modelled the style for Burberry and now we can buy the classic trench coat across numerous retailers on the high street.

The trench coat is one of the most versatile pieces you can have in your wardrobe. It instantly smartens up any outfit but is also perfect for a casual everyday look. I wanted to share how I like to style mine from day to night, showing that is truly the best jacket for every occasion.

Of course, every girl dreams of owning the Burberry trench, but actually there are so many amazing trench coats out their that are just as stylish and a fraction of the cost. Jack Wills, a brand that truly represents British style offer some incredible trench coat's. When I think of Jack Wills, not only do their collections represent true British style, but you know you are going to get extremely high quality products. They are truly known for their heritage inspired classics with a contemporary twist, and the trench is no different. In fact they actually offer a variety of colours and style's, from the classic trench in navy, to the crop style in the classic nude. This Dollyhill Swing style is my personal favourite (instantly add's to shopping basket). They actually have an amazing guide over on the Jack Wills website right now about styling the trench coat, sharing lots of style tips and tricks. So head on over and have a read of their How To Style A Trench Coat guide here.

I highly recommend investing in a trench coat if you don't already have one in your wardrobe. I wear mine day in day out and it is honestly been my most worn piece in my wardrobe. It has always been a item that can successfully transition through all seasons and stay a staple in your wardrobe year after year.
