The Basket Bag Trend

Basket Bag Trend / Lauren Rose Style / Blogger London ft. Bohemia Design & Primark
The basket bag trend is one I have happily jumped on board with. I am not sure where the popularity has came from, maybe the heightened interest in all things Morrocan, but style bloggers everywhere aren't seen for long without a basket firmly in there hand at the moment.

I have acquired two thus far, this beauty above is from Primark that was only £7, and this basket bag of my dreams below from Bohemia Design, who have so many amazing styles on offer.

Reworking Your Wardrobe For Summer ~ The White Lace Dress

I have been struggling recently with my wardrobe. I am sure most of us girls have encountered this first world problem, where we seem to have an entire wardrobe full of clothes, but somehow we still feel as though we have nothing.. and I mean nothing to wear.
I am unsure why this happens to the best of us. It would be interesting to know if there is actually some sort of logic behind it. Who knows! But today I am here to give you some inspiration to find ways to reinvent your wardrobe without having to go out and drain your bank account in Zara, something that I have definitely been guilty of as of recent times.
First things first, we need to go through our wardrobes, pull everything out and try it all on. It's important to also clear out anything that doesn't fit or you haven't actually worn in the past 3 years. Then you can see what you have left to work with. Also, anything you are going to get rid of, make some extra cash (to buy new clothes) and sell them on ebay or Depop. I am a bit of an ebay addict and I am always listing things I don't wear anymore, that way I can justify buying something new. If you would like a whole post on this, do let me know as I would be happy to share all my tips and tricks.
Now get all those nice summery pieces out that have been hidden in your wardrobe for the past year and have some fun styling them in a different way. Style them differently by trying different outfits on. This is how I tend to plan outfit's. An outfit can look great in your head, but in actual fact when you put it all on and look in the mirror, sometimes you can look ridiculous. For me, simplicity in summer outfit's is key. It can be so easy to go OTT with all the colours and prints, I think it's best to stick to one theme, if you have a printed colourful dress, make sure everything else you wear with it doesn't include prints and pair it with some simple accessories and white trainers.
The first thing I was drawn to again this year in my wardrobe was this white lace dress. I got this last summer and wore it to Wimbledon with some snakeskin boots and a bomber jacket. This time around I wanted to team it with some blue denim as I think white lace and denim is the ultimate summer combo. I actually love this denim jacket so so much. The prettiness of the frills and lace detail add some dimension to the look and I wanted to break this up with some biker boots to give more of an edgier look. I then added a leopard print bag, making the perfect little statement accessory.
Denim Jacket: Topshop / Dress: Stradivarius / Boots: River Island / Bag: H&M

Everything in this look I had in my wardrobe already, sometimes you just have to look properly to find those hidden gems in your wardrobe that I am sure we all have. I think this outfit will become a firm favourite of mine this summer, with this dress seeing me through these scorching hot days in London we are having at the moment, it is currently 32 degree's today. So. Hot.

I hope this has inspired you to try find some pieces from last summer in your wardrobe that you can actually wear again this year, styling them differently to create a whole new look. Have fun with it and don't be afraid to experiment with your style!

How To Style A Trench Coat

How To Style The Trench Coat With Jack Wills / Lauren Rose Style / Fashion Blogger London
I shared a post recently about how the Trench Coat has made a bit of a comeback. This classic and timeless piece is a true representation of the iconic British style. Today I wanted to talk a little bit more about the history of the Trench Coat and share with you the different ways you can style it.

In the 1850's both Burberry and Aquascutum claim to have invented the trench coat. The trench coat was actually originally worn during World War 1 by officers in the trenches to prevent mud getting onto their uniform's. Flash forward 150 year's, and this piece now has major fashion credential. This was of course helped by style icons throughout the decades wearing this style. During the 60's Jacqueline Kennedy and Brigitte Bardot wore this style, and it was seen on Audrey Hepburn in the film Breakfast at Tiffany's. In more recent years, style muse and global model Kate Moss has modelled the style for Burberry and now we can buy the classic trench coat across numerous retailers on the high street.

The trench coat is one of the most versatile pieces you can have in your wardrobe. It instantly smartens up any outfit but is also perfect for a casual everyday look. I wanted to share how I like to style mine from day to night, showing that is truly the best jacket for every occasion.

Of course, every girl dreams of owning the Burberry trench, but actually there are so many amazing trench coats out their that are just as stylish and a fraction of the cost. Jack Wills, a brand that truly represents British style offer some incredible trench coat's. When I think of Jack Wills, not only do their collections represent true British style, but you know you are going to get extremely high quality products. They are truly known for their heritage inspired classics with a contemporary twist, and the trench is no different. In fact they actually offer a variety of colours and style's, from the classic trench in navy, to the crop style in the classic nude. This Dollyhill Swing style is my personal favourite (instantly add's to shopping basket). They actually have an amazing guide over on the Jack Wills website right now about styling the trench coat, sharing lots of style tips and tricks. So head on over and have a read of their How To Style A Trench Coat guide here.

I highly recommend investing in a trench coat if you don't already have one in your wardrobe. I wear mine day in day out and it is honestly been my most worn piece in my wardrobe. It has always been a item that can successfully transition through all seasons and stay a staple in your wardrobe year after year.

Why Do I Blog?

Why Do I Blog | Lauren Rose Style Blue Gingham Top Zara OOTD
After reading this think piece post by Hannah from Too Much Is Not Enough discussing why she and other bloggers do actually run a blog and share part of their lives via the internet, I thought I would talk about why I personally blog.

It is an interesting concept and some may find people who have blog's vain, but I think that is far from the truth. Blogging is different for everyone, for some people it gives them a voice, somewhere they can share their thoughts and feelings on anything from their favourite concealer, to Zara's hottest buy's, as well as people who discuss more serious topics and issues, such as feminism or mental health. It gives people the ability to talk freely about whatever they wish to in the hope that it might inspire, help or even just interest someone else to have a read.

For me it is my creative outlet.  I have always been a creative person, ever since I can remember. My favourite subjects in school were always art and graphic design and I thought that I wanted to work in costume or fashion design when I first left high school. I went to art college for a year before deciding that actually studying art wasn't for me, there was way too much painting involved and I just don't think I had the patience for it and I actually missed the learning side of education. So I opted for a degree that mixed both by studying Fashion Management. This course allowed me to discover what career I actually wanted to do, mixing management and business modules with creative modules, it was the perfect balance.I now work in Fashion Merchandising, which I absolutely love but it is definitely more analytically based and therefore for me, having this space on the internet to use my creative side is essential to me.

My blog is my hobby. Some people play sports, play a musical instrument, but mine is my blog and I love it. It is something I enjoy to create. I have so much fun taking outfit photo's with my best friend, I love editing the images, to putting the final post all together and clicking publish, as well as coming up with new idea's for post's or putting new outfits together to share. It is something I am extremely passionate about.

I used to use this blog to talk about an array of interests, from beauty to baking but it always came back to fashion. They were the post's I enjoyed creating the most, and luckily they were the one's that were the most popular. Fashion has always been my main interest, so I am so happy with the focus my blog has.

Summer Stripes

Lauren Rose Style Blue Striped New Look Summer Dress OOTD Fashion Blogger London
I am currently obsessing over stripes. Blue stripes in particular. I have been so drawn to the colour blue recently and as it is finally starting to get a little warmer in London, I got the chance to wear this striped dress last weekend for the first time. It has been hiding in my wardrobe for over a month now, awaiting for the day that the sun would come out.

Dress : New Look / Shoes : H&M / Bag: Cath Kidson

This dress definitely encapsulates effortless style, a throw it on and go kind of look, with the waist tie adding a little structure into the shirt dress. It was the perfect outfit for spending the day relaxing in the park with friends.

My shoes are from H&M and these beauty's are set to be a core staple in my summer wardrobe. I had wanted a pair of mules for a while, and almost bought a pink pair but I ended up choosing the nude pair as I knew I would be able to wear them with way more outfit's. It is an added bonus that they are super comfy.

I teamed this look with a little cross body bag from Cath Kidson, adding a bit of a muted colour clash to this outfit. Also - apologies for the paleness of my skin right now. I am hoping that now the sun has made an appearance, I may see a bit of a tan develop or perhaps I will just need to opt for some new fake tan asap.

Life Update

I have been neglecting my poor little blog for a couple of week's now and I know that I don't have to explain but thought it would be nice to get a little bit more personal on my blog and share what has been keeping me oh so busy the past few weeks.

A number of things have contributed to my slacking blog schedule. Firstly - I GOT A NEW JOB!! Very exciting news indeed. I left my old job just over a month ago now and started my new one a week later. I am definitely enjoying a new challenge, I think it is so important in life to push yourself into change once in a while. Everyone has been so welcoming, I am really starting to settle in and I feel like I am finally getting into the swing of things. However it has kept me super busy, especially in the first few weeks. I didn't really have much time for anything else, it completely wiped me out and I was just so tired all the time, so I spent the majority of evening's/weekends sleeping and relaxing. A LOT of Netflix was watched. I honestly just think that I didn't have enough room or energy in my brain to blog or do very much else tbh. Sometime's that is needed though. If your body and mind needs rest, it is so important to let it.

Exciting news number two... After a year and a half of being in a long distance relationship with my boyfriend (he lived in Scotland and I lived in London), he has moved to London! He moved in with me almost two weeks ago now and you can probably imagine how happy I am about this. I absolutely love having him here in London with me. We have wanted to live together for so long now, so it is all very exciting that finally we can be together like a proper couple. As you can imagine, this probably also contributed to my lack of blogging, I have been busy clearing out my room so that he could have space in it and also just spending a lot of time with him since he has been here has been amazing.

So one kind of unhappy thing that has been affecting me a lot recently is my body. Now I don't think I have ever talked about my weight on my blog before, but I just feel extremely unhappy and unconfident in my body at the moment, which has probably added to the lack of post's. Having to shoot outfit photo's when you feel like a potato is not great, so I have definitely been avoiding that a bit. I know that I am very unkind about myself, but I am sure we have all felt like this at times. I haven't been to the gym in over a month as my old gym was next to my old work and I haven't joined a new one quite yet. That is my main task to complete this weekend = sign up to a new gym. I know as soon as I get back into the gym again I will feel 100 times better, but right now I think I am the heaviest I have been in years. CRY ME A RIVER.

Before I end this post on a negative, I thought I would share with you things that I have been loving at the moment. I thought about making this into a monthly favourite's blog post, but not sure it need's a whole dedicated post, so for now I thought I would tie it on to the end of this post.

Music - This is probably the same as everyone else in the world at the moment but I am loving Harry Style's new album. I don't even think I need to say any more. I am also really liking Paramore's new album, a little bit of a throwback vibe but I am playing them on repeat as I type and it is sooo goood.

TV - I binge watched Girlboss in a whole day, no shame. If you haven't seen this, I highly recommend giving it a watch. It is about how Sophie Amoruso built up the 'previously' successful online shop Nasty Gal. I have heard mixed reviews about this series, some people really didn't like her character but I loved everything about it.

I have also really been getting into American Horror Story recently. I am on season 3 and I think it is my favourite season yet. I can't watch too many episode's in a row because I genuinely get too creeped out, but if you haven't seen it and are looking for something new to watch, give it a try. Be warned, it is slightly odd, some of the story lines are really weird but overall I think it's really good.

Shops - Zara are killing the game right now. It is dangerously good in there and the new Westfield White City store is literally a dream. I have bought quite a few bit's from there recently, so expect to see some in my upcoming post's, oooh teaser alert.

I have a number of different post's planned for the next few weeks, but if you have anything you want to see on my blog then please let me know in the comments!!

Until Next Time, Lauren Rose xx

Finding Your Personal Style

Finding Your Personal Style / Lauren Rose Style / Fashion Blogger London

Having a personal fashion style is something that I used to think I didn't have yet. I thought that it would develop as I grew up, but more recently I have realised that I have always had my own personal style, that is unique to me.

I personally don't limit myself to one particular style. I find that I dress depending on my mood. If I am feeling happy and confident, maybe I will wear something colourful or I will put together a more daring outfit. If I wake up grumpy or I am struggling to get out of bed that day (always Monday's), I will probably wear all black since my brain is really not in the mood to choose anything more exciting to wear.

I wrote a post a few years ago about how I didn't feel like I had my own personal style. I now know that I clearly do, we all do. I wear what I like. We all wear what we like, depending on our mood, the occasion, the weather and it will always be unique to each and every one of us.

I am sure that we all take inspiration from other people, be it friends, bloggers, celebrities or your style idol's but your wardrobe is always going to be unique to you and the way you wear a piece, will be different to everybody else.

I have realised that you don't have to find what your personal style is, because you already have it. It is the essence of who you are. It is important to always wear what you like, what makes you feel confident or happy and always dress for yourself ladies.

I want to share with you where I personally find style inspiration. I think where you find fashion inspiration is also a representation of who you are. Your tastes, interests and inspiration's are always going to be individual to you. So here are a few bloggers and fashion icons that inspire my everyday style.
