Distrikt Coffee, Berlin

Distrikt Coffee: Bergstra├če 68, 10115 Berlin, Germany
My favourite breakfast from my trip to Berlin was at Distrkt Coffee. A lovely coffee shop with a selection of breakfast and lunch options. If you are into the super food and health trend, you would love this place. My boyfriend is not into this, i.e would never order an 'Acai Bowl', so I was a bit worried there was nothing he would want to eat. I love healthy food but some of the combinations of food on the menu did sound slightly unusual. I am not selling this place very well yet but trust me, what we ended up ordering was exceptional. I found the staff super friendly and accommodating and the vibe of the cafe was very relaxed. The brick walls, wooden tables and copper lights of the interior gave it a very cool feel and all coffee's came with double shots and tasted wonderful.
Simon and I decided to order two different dishes to share. We love to do this, as then you get to try more than one thing on the menu. We ended up ordering probably the two unhealthiest options on the menu. We opted for the 'Pulled Chicken Sandwich with Hoisin Sauce, Sugar Snap Slaw and Peanuts' and the 'Buttermilk Pancakes with Maple Berry Syrup, Banana, Citrus Butter and Basil'. You can probably see what I meant by unusual food combinations. I never thought these flavours would all go together on pancakes, but I trusted that they had probably tried and tested their own menu and wanted to give them a try.
As you can see, the presentation of the food was wonderful and I was excited to tuck in. We started by sharing the pulled chicken sandwich. The bread was crispy, the meat was tender and the added hoisin sauce was the perfect extra flavour. It was simply delicious. We then moved onto share the pancakes and devoured them. They were by far the fluffiest pancakes I have ever eaten, and I have eaten a lot of pancakes in my time, let me tell you. The citrus butter and maple berry sauce worked amazing together and the citrus butter especially added such an incredible zingy kick, making this dish really that bit more special. All in all, the flavours worked sensationally and these were mouth-wateringly good.

If you are ever in Berlin, you love coffee and yummy food, then I really recommend going here. If you would like to snoop a bit more at their menu, then you can find it on their facebook here.

Hope this post hasn't left you feeling too hungry.. Until next time, LR x

Frosty in Berlin.

Having just arrived back from an amazing week in Berlin with my boyfriend Simon, I have had today to chill before heading back to work and reality tomorrow. Simon has a big fancy-shmancy camera that takes pretty sweet quality photos and I loved playing with it whilst we were away. We took so many pictures and I have taken about 3 hours to edit just half of them. Once they are all edited, I am going to do some more blog posts on my trip, I have some foodie posts planned, a big photo diary post sharing all our photo's and perhaps a little travel guide as well, so look out for those over the next few weeks.

For today's post I thought I would share some outfit photo's from my trip. Berlin was freezing whilst we were there, with the city covered in a layer of snow. We were pretty lucky with the weather actually, it tended to be quite sunny even although it was absolutely freezing, with the coldest day dropping to -9 *eeek* . Wrapping up warm was essential. This faux fur coat was a saviour. It was exceptionally warm, keeping me super cosy, as well as helping me looking slightly stylish in all my layers. I have had it for years and every winter it comes back out and serves me well. I am a major leopard print lover, so this coat is the absolute dream to me.

I have really felt the winter weather this week. It is absolutely freezing in London, so layers are a must. On Saturday I braved the cold and headed out for a stroll with my friend Hannah who kindly took these snaps for me. We walked down the canal, found this graffitied wall and thought it looked very 'East London'. So we pretended we were edgy East Londoners for a while...

Anywayys... the outfit. I wore this cute, cord pinafore dress from New Look, which I am loving at the moment. Cord is making a come back it seems and so are pinafore dresses and I for one am keen to dress like a 12 year old girl. Burgundy is also possibly my favourite colour to wear in the winter, so this dress ticks all the boxes for me. It's the ideal dress to layer with in winter, by wearing a jumper underneath on a chilly day. I wore a grey turtle neck underneath from Zara and threw on this cosy fur coat from New Look over the top. I then pulled the look together with my current loves, these ASOS snakeskin boots. I have spoken before about how much I love these boots before, they just make me feel super glam. I then wore this lovely little snakeskin textured Zara cross body bag that my beautiful friend Ellis kindly got me for Christmas. It is the perfect size for carrying around all my essentials at the weekend. Lastly to keep cosy, I wore my new monochrome scarf from Stradivarius, which is so, so soft. I got for heading to Berlin next week but couldn't wait that long to wear.

I really like this outfit, I feel like everything pulls together nicely, to really make a look. That teamed with the cool, edgy wall we found. I am super happy with the outcome of these photos. This is my first outfit post of the year and I plan on continuing to share an outfit post every Sunday from now on. Fingers crossed I succeed.

What do you think of this look? Do you love this cord pinafore dress as much as I do?

A Reflective Post: 2015 In Review and Goals For 2016

This time last year I wrote a post sharing my best memories from the year and discussed my thoughts for the next year. You can read this here. So I thought I would do the same again this year. January is the month that everyone takes time to reflect on the past year and think about what the next year has in store.

2015 was a great year for me. I achieved a lot of amazing things and I am extremely proud of myself. My goal for the year was to focus on pushing myself in my final 4 months of University and plan some exciting things for the rest of the year. I am proud to say that I achieved this. I worked my ass off in my final semester of University, handed in my dissertation and managed to graduate with a first class honours degree in Fashion Management.

I was so nervous about graduating because I didn't know what would happen next. I moved out of my flat and back in with my parents. I wrote a post 'here' about 'My Post Graduate Feels'. I spent the majority of summer applying for jobs, in between a holiday to Croatia, Graduation and Grad Ball. Then at the end of July, I headed to London to intern with Accessorize, Monsoon for a month before August/September seen me taking a trip to London almost weekly to help out at the Scottish Fashion Awards and for several job interviews. I then landed my first Graduate Job working within Merchandising in London and I can't express how ecstatic I was. All my hard work was worth it. I have now worked there for 3 months and I absolutely love it. I got a little flat with my friends Maddie and Joanna back in October and we have a happy little life here in East London.

Last year I also went on an amazing trip to New York with my family, which I will look back on forever. When I look back at my photos, I want to go back so bad! It was such an incredible place.

New Year With My Best Friends!
It was so nice to be bringing in the New Year at home with my best friends and beginning the new year happy and excited for the future. I don't know where this year will take me either, but this year I don't fear it for once, I am excited to see where life takes me. I am super happy in my Job and living in London, it is really hard being far away from my boyfriend and family but overall I am pretty settled and happy here. I am hoping to move into a different flat this year, something a bit bigger and with a living room - so fingers crossed.

I have a number of other personal goals this year, last year my new years resolution was donate to charity every month and this year I want to try and be more eco-friendly. I also want to do more things for myself, like baking and pampering myself, to feel more relaxed and less stressed and anxious all the time about little things. I also hope I get to travel to more places, and I am starting by heading to Berlin for 5 days later this month with my boyfriend, which I honestly cannot wait for.

I loved writing this post and seeing everything I have done and achieved this year, I am so proud of myself and it truly was an incredible year. Thanks 2015! Here's to 2016...

Do you like this kind of reflective post? What are you most proud about achieving in 2015 and what are your goals for 2016?
