Orange and Ginger Christmas Biscuits

Today I thought I would share a little festive biscuit recipe which can be wrapped up all pretty and given as little extra gifts around the festive season, as Christmas is all about giving! This recipe is super quick and easy to make, with few ingredients making it easy to whip up a batch last minute...

Ingredients
  • 175g plain flour
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 orange zest
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 100g butter
  • 50g golden caster sugar
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • For the topping: White Chocolate, Dark Chocolate and festive sprinkles

Method:
  1. Preheat oven to 180°C / gas mark 4 (You can do this at stage 4)
  2. Mix the flour, ginger, zest, butter with 1/2 tsp of salt until the mixture turns to fine crumbs. You can either do this in a food processor or if you are like me and do not have one, you can just use your hands.
  3. Mix in the sugar and milk, before placing the dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth.
  4. Wrap the dough in clingfilm and pop it in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  5. Remove the dough from the fridge and flour the work surface again. Roll the dough out until it is roughly the thickness of a £1 coin. Use whatever Christmas themed biscuit cutters you like to cut out the shapes for your biscuits.
  6. Grease two baking trays and place all the biscuits onto the tray before a baking in the oven for 15-20 until the biscuits turn golden brown.
  7. Leave your biscuits to cool and then you can decorate however you wish. I melted white and dark chocolate and drizzled both over the top of all the biscuits before adding snowflake sprinkles as an extra festive touch.
  8. Enjoy!

These biscuits are super yummy, everyone who has tried them has given them praise. The subtle ginger taste and orange zest comes through just enough to taste, but it is not too overpowering. I got these little snowflake bags and ribbon from Poundland and wrapped up a stack of stars as a little present - I think they look so cute!

Do you like the sound of these biscuits? Do you think you might try out this recipe?

It is only 2 days until Christmas now, so if you are reading this I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas - have the best day, spending time with family, eating the best food and getting a little tipsy.

Last Saturday I went for brunch and a stroll in Notting Hill, followed by a day full of Christmas shopping with my friend Suzy. I love the aesthetic of all the houses and streets in Notting Hill, they are so white and pretty. It is nice to just have a wander around and nosey at people's amazing houses. House goals.

I wore a little cord black staple skirt from Forever 21 and a cute lace insert blouse from ASOS. You can't really see how pretty this top actually is in these photos, but you can see it better on the Asos website here. It was a bit of a brisk day, so a cosy fur scarf was necessary. I love this scarf from Accessorize, it is my favourite colour ever and it is super soft. I love throwing it on with a monochrome outfit to add some colour.

I then wore my new booties from ASOS. How amazing are they? They are just so incredible. Pointy, Monochrome and Snakeskin. Need I say more. They make me feel super glam when I wear them and I like to sing 'Hey I got my new shoes on and suddenly everything feels right' when I wear them. OBSESSED.

I also uploaded a new video on my Youtube channel on Sunday. It is an Autumn / Winter Fashion Haul if you are interested in having a watch to see what I have been buying in the past couple of months. You can - click here - to watch! :)

What do you think of my new boots? Do you love them as much as I do?
