I am sure I am not the only one who is thinking, thank god 2016 is over. We can now start a fresh, and really focus on making this year amazing for all of us.

January is always the perfect excuse for a fresh start. We all create new resolutions and goals and can look forward to what the next year will have in store for us. I had a tough time in my personal life in the last month or so of 2016, so I am happy to have left that all behind me and move forward with all the positive vibes.

One of my main goal for 2017 is to really focus on myself. Worry less, travel more and enjoy life to the full, as clique as that may sound. It seemed the perfect time to kickstart the new year with creating a new blog name and logo, something I had been thinking of doing for a while now. I wanted to refocus my blog and give it a bit of a refresh and 'www.laurenrosestyle.com' seemed fitting for the direction I want to move my blog in. I want to predominantly focus on fashion, as that is the thing I am most passionate about. Yes, I love baking and many other things, but I want my blog to have a main focus and for me, it always comes back to personal style. Fashion and style posts are what I enjoy creating the most, so that is definitely what I will be focusing on going forwards.

I thought I would also share some of my other goals and aspirations for 2017 with you in this post..

TRAVEL
Use My Holiday's To Travel More
One of my plans for the year is to actually use my holiday's from work more efficiently and when I take time off, actually travel somewhere, whether that is in the UK, a weekend in Europe or spending a relaxing week somewhere sunny.

FITNESS
Create A Fitness Routine and Stick To It
In the past my resolutions for fitness have always been *get skinny*, which is never achievable because actually I don't want to stop eating so much. I love eating healthy, I mean I eat enough avocado's to know. But I also love choclate and cake and life is about balance after all. Instead my goals are to have everything in moderation and create a gym routine and stick to it. Last year, before my holiday in July I was gyming 2-4 times a week and enjoying it. I came back and have never gotten fully back into it. I felt happy and healthy when I went on holiday and I would love to get back to that.

I also want to try and take up running. I am not a cardio girl, give me yoga, swimming and weights over running on the treadmill any day of the week but I actually want to really try, once a week to get outside and go for a run. I live near Regent's park and Primrose hill and really should push myself a bit more into this and try and enjoy it. I will be sure to update you to how I get on with this but I am not making any promises about the running one.

PERSONAL
Worry Less
I really need to stop stressing and working myself up over the smallest things that in a month's time will not be important. Focus more on the positives, and don't let other peoples negativity drag you down.
Donate To Charity Every Month
Two years ago I made a New Year's Resolution to donate to a different charity every month and I stuck to it. This year I plan on doing this again, even if it is only £5 or £10 a month, every little helps.

BLOG GOALS
Care Less, Focus More
I think it is healthy to keep striving and pushing yourself to achieve new things and I want to extend some of my goals to my blog. Blogging is something I have been dabling in for a few years but never really pushed myself in it. For me, it's not about the numbers, it is about enjoying the journey. I love talking photo's, editing and sharing my thoughts. This year I want to stop caring about what other people may think and really go full speed ahead with it. Push myself to step up my photography, my content and the whole direction of my blog now I have chosen to have more of a main focus and a new name, I really feel like it is all finally coming together and I am so happy.

Recently I reached 1000 followers on Instagram, a small achievement for most bloggers, but one I was so thrilled about. I want to continue to grow on Instragram and hope that maybe this time next year I will have hit 2000 followers. You can follow my Instagram here if you fancy >>  https://www.instagram.com/laurenrosebell/ <<

I also fancy giving youtube a proper go, I have posted a couple of video's here and there in the past but I would like to try again. I am thinking lots of fashion hauls and style videos! You can follow me here and keep updated >> http://bit.ly/1OE6iho

Now let's quickly talk about this outfit. Today my flatmate and I headed out to take some blog photo's and go for a Starbucks coffee and catch up. It has been the first time I ventured out this weekend since I have been battling a cold/viral infection this week - good times. I finally feel like the worse has past and I am on the mend.

I put together this print clashing outfit and love love love it. Fishnets are my fav thing happening in fashion right now for sure, they just look SO fab. Also who says now Christmas is over you have to stop wearing snazzy silver boots? Not me. Wear what you like, don't care what people might thing and nothing is ever OTT in the fashion world.

Gingerbread Christmas Cookies

We are now in the week running up to Christmas and everything is getting very festive and exciting and I am not complaining about it. If you know me, then you know that I love to bake, so any excuse to do some festive themed baking is always taken. I recently rustled up some gingerbread cookies in star shapes and they were just too good not to share. I even took some into work and they vanished in a flash, so I definitely recommend giving these a go, as they were so yummy.

To make these gingerbread star cookies, you will need:

350g plain flour (extra for rolling the mixture)
1 tsp bicarbonate of sofa
2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp ground cinnamon
125g butter
175g light brown sugar
1 medium egg
4 tbsp golden syrup

Method:

1. Sift together the flour, bicarbonate of soda, ginger and cinnamon and mix together. Add the butter and use a food processor to blend together until the mixture turns to breadcrumbs. If you don't have a food processor (like me) don't worry, you can just use your fingers and rub the mixture together until it turns to breadcrumbs, this may just take a bit longer.

2. Stir in the sugar before adding the beaten egg and golden syrup. Again, blend the mixture in the food processor, or whisk until the mixture sticks together.

3. Tip out the dough and knead out until smooth. Wrap the mixture in clingfilm and leave to chill in the fridge for approx 15 minutes.

4. Heat the oven to 180 degrees fan assisted and line two baking trays with greaseproof paper.

5. When the mixture has chilled, roll out the dough until it has around a 0.5cm thickness onto a floured surface. Use your biscuit cutters of choice, all shapes and sizes are fully accepted, but I would definitely recommend something Christmas themed. These star biscuit cutters were only from Poundland.

6. Place the biscuit shapes onto a baking tray leaving a small gap between each one and bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes, until they are golden-brown.

7. Remove from the oven and leave to cool for ten minutes before removing them from the tray to a wire rack. Feel free to finish off your cookies by decorating them as you wish with icing or cake decorations.

Let me know if you do make these, I would love to see photo's.

Also this is going to be my last post until after Christmas/New Year, so I just wanted to say that I really hope you have a very Merry Christmas and wish you a Happy New Year when it comes!!

I will actually be taking my blog offline from Christmas Eve and relaunching it again on the 3rd of January, which I am so so excited about. If you want to keep updated with it all, then you can follow me on twitter @laurenrosebell and instagram @laurenrosebell, where I will be announcing my relaunch and my new site - eeeek. Lots of good things to come hopefully in the new year, here's hoping 2017 kicks off to a good start, it can't be any worse than 2016, am I right?

Merry Christmas!
